This week: April 13-19, 2025
Sunday 4-13
Good Evening Huguenot High School Falcon Families,
I hope everyone has enjoyed today’s beautiful weather. I know that this is the time of year where tiredness sets in and the gorgeous weather makes it easier to talk ourselves our of attending school. I want to make sure that I reiterate how important it is for our students to come to school everyday, on time, and ready to learn. Coming to school also allows students to participate in activities that reward positive behavior and good attendance such as our end of year field day, senior trip, and raffles and prizes. Most importantly, attending class everyday vastly improves the quality of learning and allows student to pass classes, pass assessments, graduate on time, and enjoy positive post secondary pathways. Spring can be a grind, but it’s more than worth it!
Here are tonight’s announcements that include information about parent teacher conferences, prom tickets, the upcoming PTA meeting, and end of year SOL testing:
**Parent and Caregiver Conferences Thursday Evening**
Huguenot High School has parent and caregiver conferences with teachers Thursday evening from 4:30 to 6:30 PM. Teachers should have a signup on the Google Classrooms. Conferences can be held in person, or virtual. Please make sure to have an appointment in advance rather than showing up to the building without conferences scheduled.
**Prom Tickets**
The Huguenot High School Prom takes place this Friday, April 18, from 1-11PM. Guest forms must be approved by administration by the end of the school day on April 16. The link for purchasing tickets in included: https://gofan.co/event/3441898 . The code for purchasing tickets is your student ID.
** SOL Testing Is Around the Corner**
End of Year SOL testing begins April 21st. All students should be in school daily to prepare for SOLs required for graduation.
**PTA Meeting With 4th District School Board Member, Mr. Wesley Hedgepeth**
From the HHS PTA:
We're in the home stretch of the 202-2025 school year! 36 days left of the school year and lots of activities in the works. We gifted the school $300 for prom expenses and $350 for the End of the Year SOL Celebration!! Up next is Teacher Appreciation Week. We would love to hear your ideas and have your help with planning and/or working the event.
We have a new school board representative, Wesley Hedgepeth, and he will be at our next meeting. It would be great to have a big turn out for this meeting. You will be able to ask questions and hear what his goals are for our school and schools in his district.
Additionally, if you would like to be more active in the PTSA there are some positions open on the board. Most of our board members are the parents of seniors and will be leaving us at the end of the year. Please consider taking on a role and help us continue to grow and support our students and staff.
Please plan to attend this meeting April 22, 2025 @ 6pm. It's virtual so you'll be able to join from your phone or computer wherever you are. Use this info below to join us.

**Monitoring Your Students On Aspen**
Parents and caregivers should log into the Aspen Family Portal at least once a week to monitor academic progress and attendance. If you do not have your child’s login information please contact Ms. Logan in the front office or your child’s school counselor.
5 Ideals
We would like parents/caregivers and students to remember the 5 Ideals that we follow every day in our school, and the aligning expectations in each part of our building. The information can be found here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1rOYvNmnNc3AmvVqi5gmvnZOLPrDMn_bA/edit?usp=sharing&ouid=115343892864408411632&rtpof=true&sd=true
Tardies
We also need to make sure that students arrive to class on time. Our starting time continues to be 9 AM. Students must be in class ready to learn at 9 AM and are tardy if they arrive late (with the exception of late buses). Students will receive progressive discipline and interventions with continued tardiness to classes or being in the hall without passes during hall sweeps.
Headphones and Cellphones Away All Day
Please consider having your student keep their headphones (Airpods/Beats/etc.) at home. These are expensive items and are prohibited to be worn or used during the school day. Headphones and cell phones must be away all day per the executive order from the Commonwealth of Virginia. Keeping headphones at home drastically reduces the chance of them being lost or broken, and allows students not to be redirected so that they may focus on instruction. The cellphone policy can be found here: https://www.rvaschools.net/schools-office/safety-and-security/cell-phone-policy
Clear Backpack Protocol
This is a reminder that RPS continues the clear backpack protocol. Students must have clear backpacks with them when coming to school. We will be reinforcing the protocol on Monday. The backpack protocol can be found here: https://www.rvaschools.net/schools-office/safety-and-security/clear-backpacks
*Extra Chromebook and Charger Returns**
Parents and Caregivers, please take a moment this week to check your home for any additional chargers or Chromebooks from years past or loaners that your student may not have returned to school. We will be sending out letters to those who have missing devices. If you locate an additional school-issued Chromebook or charger in your home please send it to school with your student and have them return it to the media center.
If you have made it this far we appreciate your engagement and support!
Thank you and have a great evening.

Principal, Huguenot High School
