From The Nest: This week's updates (February 9) Good morning Huguenot High School Families, There is very important information below about a new system in which we will be notifying you concerning your child's daily attendance, but first, I want to acknowledge our amazing counselors.Last week was School Counselor Appreciation Week. As you remember, we had a shortened week last week, and I didn't do as good a job as I would have liked in honoring our amazing school counseling team at Huguenot High School. Our lead, Mrs. Harrison, and her counseling team, Mrs. Scott, Ms. Harris, Mrs. Stevens, Mr. Christmas, and Mrs. Morales, do an amazing job every single day in supporting our students and maintaining a safe and loving environment. In addition to the social, emotional, and scheduling supports they provide students, they also spend countless hours managing and aggregating data points at both the micro and macro levels to support our graduation rates and content mastery indexes. I can't stress enough how fortunate we are to have such amazing counselors at Huguenot High School. Please see this week's messages below: Attendance Notifications Update (Division Message): Beginning Monday, February 9, our school will begin sending daily attendance notifications for student absences and tardies via ParentSquare. These messages will be sent each school day at 12:30 p.m. to help keep families informed and support strong daily attendance for all students, Preschool–12. Being present each day matters—regular attendance helps students stay connected to learning, build relationships, and succeed academically. To ensure you receive these important messages, please take a moment to:
We appreciate your continued partnership in supporting student attendance and engagement. Thank you for working with us to ensure every student is present, supported, and ready to learn each day. Black History MonthHuguenot High School continues our celebration of Black History Month this week with a gallery walk in our front gallery celebrating 100 years of Black History Month. The art deparment has been hanging art work inspired by Black history and Black excellence outside of our auditorium. Door decoration contests have also started. We will also be showing television shows that are representative of Black culture during lunches as well as games later in the week in the cafeteria for prizes. In the coming weeks we have a plethora of additional activities including an assembly, musical presentations, and more. All of these activities are in addition to content based learning activities that take place in classrooms this month, and throughout the year. WIDA Testing Contiues WIDA testing will continue for our students who are multilingual learners throughout the month of February. There are WIDA testing preparation documents also availble on CANVAS. Thank you and have a wonderful Monday. Dr. Michael Massa Principal, Huguenot High School |
