This week: March 17-22, 2025
Sunday, 3-16-25
Good Evening Huguenot High School Families,
I hope everyone has had a restful weekend and enjoyed the warmer weather after our frigid winter. We held a pep rally on Friday and our students did a tremendous job in participating and meeting and exceeding expectations (as they always do). We were also extremely impressed with our freshmen class. The class of 2028 seems to have the most school spirit we’ve seen in years! As for our seniors, they are spirited too…..to graduate……..so they need to continue to check the Senior Class Google Classroom to make sure they are up on all the latest news and dates (including our Senior Trip!) Below are some important announcements:
**Huguenot High School Curriculum Fair**
Huguenot High School holds the curriculum fair for families with rising 9th-12th grade students on Wednesday, March 19, from 6 to 8 pm. We are hoping that caregivers and students who are rising 9th grade through 12 grade and zoned for Huguenot High School will consider attending. We will have representatives from many of our clubs and departments as well as a brief presentation concerning graduation requirements from our counselors. This program can assist you in course selection as you move forward in high school over the coming years. We hope to see all our Falcon families on Wednesday, March 19, from 6 to 8 PM at Huguenot High School.

**Baked Goods, Food Sales Restricted**
Recently Huguenot has had an increase in students bringing baked goods from home or tech classes and selling them to students in the building. Students are not permitted to bring baked goods to school from home unless part of a school-sanctioned project. Students may not sell any food on campus. Students who have tech and bring food/baked goods that they make in class should keep the goods put away during school hours.
**Testing Calendar**
We will begin the SOL Writing Test tomorrow, Monday, March 17. Please review the calendar below to make sure that your child is ready if they are testing.

**30-30 Movement during 4th Periods**
Starting Monday, March 17, and moving forward we will expand our “no pass time” from 15 minutes at the beginning and end of 4th period to 30 minutes at the beginning and end of 4th period. In other words, during 4th period we are changing “15/15” stay in class to “30/30”. Several other RPS schools incorporate 30/30 during all periods. HHS will be changing to this model for 4th period only at this time.
**Seal of Biliteracy**
We’re excited to offer students the Seal of Biliteracy, recognizing proficiency in a language other than English! This achievement helps with college, and careers, and demonstrates valuable bilingual skills. rmd.me/mEbW61cBfSX
The Seal of Biliteracy is a special award placed on diplomas for students who pass a test proving their ability to read, write, and communicate in another language. It also comes with a letter explaining its significance, which can be a great asset for college and job applications. Many colleges and employers actively seek bilingual individuals, making this a great credential to have.
Please reference the attached letter discussing additional information about the Seal of Biliteracy.

**Extended Day Academic Support**
Coming to school every day is the number one indicator of how well your child will achieve in school. If your child has been absent, and/or chronically absent, we will be holding after-school academic support sessions in our extended day program from now until the end of the year for students in some English, Math, Social Studies, Science, and AP classes. Teachers will be reaching out to students to schedule times for them to attend; however, students (even those who do not have absenteeism issues) can ask their core content teachers if they may attend. There is a late activity bus(es) that returns students to their neighborhoods and leaves at 6 PM.
Thank you and have a wonderful evening!
Dr. Michael Massa,
Principal, Huguenot High School
