This week: March 24-28, 2025

Sunday 3-23-25
Good Evening Huguenot High School Families,
Last Friday marked the end of the 3rd marking period. It is unbelievable that we have already made it to the final marking period of the 2024-2025 school year; however, there is still lots of work to be done. If your child has missed ten school days or more, please encourage them to contact their English, math, or science teachers to inquire about after-school extended-day learning. Extended-day learning allows students the ability to receive additional help from teachers while also regaining seat time they may have missed due to absences. Activity buses leave the school at 6 pm to take students home and extended day learning takes place Monday through Thursday of each week up until the final week of the school year. Teachers may also be reaching out to you, or your students, to encourage them to attend extended-day learning. It is IMPERATIVE that students continue to come to school every day from now until the end of the school year unless they are sick.

Weekly Reminders:
**Monitoring Your Students On Aspen**
Parents and caregivers should log into the Aspen Family Portal at least once a week to monitor academic progress and attendance. If you do not have your child’s login information please contact Ms. Logan in the front office or your child’s school counselor.
5 Ideals
We would like parents/caregivers and students to remember the 5 Ideals that we follow every day in our school, and the aligning expectations in each part of our building. The information can be found here: rmd.me/a0aNscEWc6q
Tardies
We also need to make sure that students arrive to class on time. Our starting time continues to be 9 AM. Students must be in class ready to learn at 9 AM and are tardy if they arrive late (with the exception of late buses). Students will receive progressive discipline and interventions with continued tardiness to classes or being in the hall without passes during hall sweeps.
Headphones and Cellphones Away All Day
Please consider having your student keep their headphones (Airpods/Beats/etc.) at home. These are expensive items and are prohibited to be worn or used during the school day. Headphones and cell phones must be away all day per the executive order from the Commonwealth of Virginia. Keeping headphones at home drastically reduces the chance of them being lost or broken, and allows students not to be redirected so that they may focus on instruction. The cellphone policy can be found here: rmd.me/lHmwcHURCiZ
Clear Backpack Protocol
This is a reminder that RPS continues the clear backpack protocol. Students must have clear backpacks with them when coming to school. We will be reinforcing the protocol on Monday. The backpack protocol can be found here: rmd.me/7WfrfS7ZcRT
*Extra Chromebook and Charger Returns**
Parents and Caregivers, please take a moment this week to check your home for any additional chargers or Chromebooks from years past or loaners that your student may not have returned to school. We will be sending out letters to those who have missing devices. If you locate an additional school-issued Chromebook or charger in your home please send it to school with your student and have them return it to the media center.
If you have made it this far we appreciate your engagement and support!
Thank you and have a great evening.
Dr. Michael Massa
